Rewarding Exploration

Old Minecraft gave the player no reason to explore, and new Minecraft merely forces the player to do it. I wanted to create a world that the player actually wants to explore by making it exciting to do so. It's not just about having more stuff to find, but rather keeping the player guessing and rewarding their curiosity.

  • Many new biomes with unique resources
  • A wide variety of auto-generated structures with useful loot
  • Maps to keep you oriented
  • Continents group biomes together in major landmasses
  • Backpacks ensure you don't run out of inventory space too quickly

Seamless Feel

Nothing is worse than an obvious seam between modded and vanilla content. All mods were hand-picked to blend into the look and feel of the base game. New players and those unfamiliar with release versions of Minecraft will have a hard time deciding where vanilla ends and Pleasant Fabric begins. That's because this modpack focuses on taking the preexisting systems and gameplay loops of the base game and expanding on them. This includes giving new utility to under-utilized vanilla resources.

Lightweight

Some modpacks boast 200+ mods; this one contains less than 80 and is proud of it. Alongside numerous optimizations, I wanted to create a highly-curated collection of new content that could run even on a below-average machine. It was assembled and tested on a seven-year-old laptop!

Pleasant Fabric is based on Fabric and includes Sodium and Iris, allowing for beautiful shaders and smooth FPS on yesterday's mid-tier PCs. Looking for a compatible shader that looks and runs great? I reccomend Complementary Unbound.

Re-Balanced Difficulty

Pleasant Fabric isn't intended to be a punishing experience, and the reworked survival and progression systems reflect this.

Food and Stamina

Players only have to eat to refill their health, making time spent away from the base less annyoing and refocusing the experience of adventure on what's around the next corner. This also means stamina is free, allowing players to enter and exit encounters as they wish.

Health

The reworked food system makes taking damage less dangerous. To avoid danger becoming trivial, the maximum health of the player has been halved to five hearts (10HP).

Experience

Normally, a death can erase hours of work through the loss of XP. Players can now bottle their XP for safekeeping, guaranteeing progression in systems that require it.
